Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the Site and fulfill orders.

• Account information: your email address and, if you provide one, your name. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
• Order information: what you purchased, the amount, order status, and — for physical products — your shipping address. Card numbers are entered directly with our payment processor and never touch our servers.
• Product question answers: if a physical product asks you for details (sizing, personalization, event date, and so on), we store your answers with the order so we can fulfill it.
• Lesson bookings: the date, time, and any notes you send for private Zoom lessons.
• Email preferences: whether you subscribed to updates and whether you have unsubscribed.
• Course activity: which lessons you have opened or completed, so your progress bar works.
• Technical and analytics data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring site. Analytics and advertising cookies only run if you accept them in the cookie banner.
• Messages you send us through the contact form or by email.

How we use it

• To deliver courses, downloads, memberships, lessons, and physical products you purchased.
• To process payments, issue receipts, and handle refunds or disputes.
• To provide customer support and answer your messages.
• To send transactional email such as receipts, booking confirmations, and account notices.
• To send marketing email only if you opted in — every one of those has an unsubscribe link.
• To understand how the Site is used and improve it, using consent-gated analytics.
• To detect fraud, abuse, and security problems, and to meet our tax and legal obligations.

Legal bases and your choices

We process information to perform the contract you enter when you buy from us, to comply with legal obligations such as tax records, for our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Site, and — for analytics, advertising, and marketing email — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Service providers

We share information only with the vendors that make the Site work, and only to the extent they need it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the advertising cookies you may accept.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Accounts, purchases, and lesson bookings must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. Children may of course watch the lessons and twirl along — we simply do not want them creating accounts or sending us their information directly.

If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email SaraRudin@BatonTwirling101.com and we will delete it promptly.

Data retention

Account and course-progress records are kept while your account is active. Order, receipt, and tax records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, typically seven years. Contact messages are kept for up to two years. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention window.

Security

Traffic to the Site is encrypted in transit. Access to customer data is restricted to the people who need it to run the business, and payment card details are handled entirely by our payment processor. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take these responsibilities seriously.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal data. To make a request, email SaraRudin@BatonTwirling101.com with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will verify your identity using the email address on your account and respond within the time your law allows — 45 days for California and Texas residents, with one permitted extension.

California residents: we do not sell personal information and do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Texas residents: under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act you may appeal a decision we make about your request by replying to our response; we will explain the outcome in writing.
